The “Hashtag” is something almost everyone who isn’t new to social media has seen before, but if you still don’t truly understand its functions and purpose, take a moment to read what I’m explaining today about hashtags.
When we talk about social media, it includes all platforms like Google, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and others. You will most commonly see hashtags in advertising posts. The reason is:
(1) They make your content easy to find
For example, if a sushi restaurant uses the hashtag #Sushi, anyone searching for “Sushi” will automatically see
that post in their news feed, allowing the restaurant to increase visibility within a short time.
(2) They increase engagement
Using the right hashtags gives your post a higher reach compared to posts without hashtags. Without hashtags, only your followers will see your content.
But when you use the correct hashtags, anyone searching for related topics can see your post.
(3) They help you reach your target audience directly
Not every business is selling to everyone. Depending on your products, your target audience may vary by gender, age group,
or interests. When you use hashtags correctly, your content will reach the exact audience you want.
(4) They increase brand awareness and help build brand image
Including your business name in a hashtag not only makes it easier for people to remember your brand, but also increases the chance of going viral. If other users start
using your brand hashtag, your reach will grow even more. This is why businesses use hashtags for campaigns.
(5) Avoid using irrelevant hashtags
If your business is in construction but you use hashtags related to food, education,
or other unrelated categories, your reach will not improve and your brand quality may even decline.
Therefore, to ensure your brand-related content performs well in Search Engine Optimization (SEO), it is important to use hashtags correctly.
